polar circuit #4 call for proposals
concept:islands is the fourth polar circuit workshop and residency for media artists and researchers. It takes place in the summer of 2008 in the Finnish part of the Baltic Sea archipelago.
This call for proposals is for:
- themes/concepts for 1-3 islands (deadline July 1st 2007)
- project/workshop proposals for island #1, “ecology & media arts practices” moderated by Tapio Mäkelä (deadline August 1st 2007)
- infrastructure: concepts/solutions that shape the residency, remote participation, mesh-up networks… (deadline August 1st 2007) |

We are collecting documentation of polar circuits #1-3 and the solar circuit workshop in Tasmania. Please take a moment to upload an image, video, or an audioclip - or just leave a comment of your polar experience! With the unlikely loss of both University of Lapland and Artist Association Muu servers, core documentation of earlier polar circuits depends on personal archives. John Hopkins hosted a workshop "Remote Presence: Streaming Life Workshop" at Artist Association Muu as part of Pixelache festival in Helsinki.
See more info at http://neoscenes.net/ or http://www.pixelache.ac/2007 . Present were many polarites, Mari Keskikorsu, Amos Taylor, Owen Kelly - and the old Muu DV-camera. |
